Juliette Balcony

Located at 225 N. Laura Street, this historic three-story building was originally constructed in 1904 by noted builder O.P. Woodcock following Jacksonville’s Great Fire of 1901. In 1923, architects Marsh & Saxelbye transformed the structure adding a brick façade and raising the original two-and-a-half-story building to create a new ground floor.

Recognized by the City’s Historic Preservation Section as one of the few remaining examples of smaller-scale, mixed-use buildings from Jacksonville’s second major construction boom, the property is now poised for new life.

Plans call for a 1,900-square-foot restaurant on the ground floor, contributing to the growing food and beverage corridor along Laura Street. While a tenant is still to be finalized, the developer reports strong interest from experienced restaurateurs. The upper two floors will house a mix of studio and one-bedroom units – eight in total – ranging from 392 to 585 square feet, all intended for short-term rental through platforms like Airbnb.
