Riverfront Plaza

Current Status: Under Construction
After a seven-month process, a tremendous amount of public engagement and three outstanding designs, the Perkins&Will design team was named winner of the Riverfront Plaza (FKA The Landing) design competition. Phase 1 of Riverfront Plaza is now under construction and includes an elevated destination playground on top of a park pavilion building, a flexible event lawn, as well as bulkhead and riverwalk improvements. The park pavilion building will include a café space, restrooms and storage space to support the park. Phase 1 is slated for late 2025 completion. Phase 2 of Riverfront Plaza will include a beer garden, rain garden, a bike and pedestrian connection to the Main Street Bridge and an iconic sculpture situated atop civic stairs that is undeniably unique and authentic to Jacksonville. Phase 2 is anticipated to start in early 2025 with an anticipated completion time of early-to-mid 2027.

Riverplace Tower

Current Status: Recently Completed
The Riverplace Tower is a 28-floor office building on the south bank of the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest building in the state of Florida and was the defining landmark in Jacksonville's skyline.

RiversEdge Parks & Boardwalk

Current Status: Under Construction
The RiversEdge development will include more than four acres of public park spaces, including a large central riverfront Park featuring an iconic sculpture and a flexible lawn bordered by a walking track and a pavilion. A destination playground designed to provide fitness equipment for adults and children will be featured in another park area and a yoga lawn will be featured in a third.Active water access abounds with a marsh boardwalk and an extension of the Southbank Riverwalk, as well as transient boater slips and a kayak launch site. These various public spaces will inspire healthy living through art, exercise, gardens and interactrive features. Status: Under Construction Expected Completion: First Phase Opening Spring 2025

RiversEdge Townhomes

Preston Hollow Capital LLC has contracted with Toll Brothers for 39 town houses as part of the major Southbank development dubbed RiversEdge: Life on the St. Johns. RiversEdge: Life on the St. Johns

Preston Hollow Capital LLC has begun work on this healthy-living-inspired mixed-use project on 30-acres along the riverfront. The development is slated to bring 950 residential units, 147 hotel rooms, 200,000 SF of office space, 134,000 SF of retail, and a 125-slip marina. The project will include more than four acres of public park space and active water access. The public space will include more than four acres of public park spaces, including a large central riverfront Park, and will tell the story of Jacksonville’s extraordinary medical facilities through art, exercise, gardens and interactive features. Active water access abounds with a marsh boardwalk and an extension of the Southbank Riverwalk, as well as transient boater slips and a kayak launch site. With scenic views of both the river and the Downtown skyline, this unique setting will be a place that empowers residents and visitors to pursue and achieve wellness in their everyday lives. Shipyards West Park

Current Status: In Review
Shipyards West Park will be a world-class riverfront park inclusive of complimentary amenities that will provide the missing link between Riverfront Plaza and Metropolitan Park. Currently in the design phase by Agency Landscape + Planning, the 10-acre park space is home to the USS Orleck and the future Jacksonville Fire Museum. When complete, the destination space will allow users to explore nature, learn about the city’s history, and honor the city’s heroes while enjoying a meal with friends, fishing, kayaking, or simply taking in the beauty of the St. Johns River.

Southbank Riverwalk

Current Status: Approved
Bordering the St. Johns River, this boardwalk is usually filled with joggers, tourists, folks sitting on benches, and lovers walking hand-in-hand, all of them watching the riverboats, the shorebirds, and downtown's skyline reflected in the water. Here you can also find the water taxi dock near Chart House available for kayak launch. About the Southbank Riverwalk Extension: Approximately 1,900 feet of new riverfront bulkhead; a top of bank extension of the Southbank Riverwalk (approximately 1,900 linear feet); approximately 1,255 linear feet of new boardwalk; approximately 1,650 linear feet of new overland trail; parks with approximately 820 linear feet of river frontage and related amenities; a new water taxi stop; extensions of existing roadways and new roadways with enhanced sidewalks, enhanced landscaping, bike-lanes and on-street parking; and other facilities

St John’s River Park Playground and Friendship Fountain

Current Status: Recently Completed
The City re-opened the renovated Friendship Fountain in February 2024 with a waterfall wall and nightly choreographed light shows. St John's River Park Playground is officially open and includes themes around “Exploring the St. Johns River.” The space features a history-themed play Ship, "La Trinité," restrooms, a wedding venue, picnic areas, and interpretive gardens to help tell the story of the city’s founding and the American Heritage River at the heart of our city. St. Johns River Park/Friendship Fountain Docks

New floating docks at the St. Johns River Park/Friendship Fountain accessible via boat and water taxi. Capacity: 5 boats Time Limitation: 72 hours maximum

The Cady Club

Current Status: Recently Completed
Opening Spring 2025, The Cady Club will offer a cafe and event space. The 9,300-square-foot, two-story structure, first known as the Cady Building, was built in 1930. A lounge will serve coffee and snacks in addition to beer and wine, and compliment second- and first-floor event spaces. The DIA approved a $96,427 Retail Enhancement Grant toward the approximately $400,000 build-out in Nov. 2023.
